In This Role You’ll:

 

We on the Product Science and Data Analytics team at Paramount are looking for a dedicated Associate Data Scientist. Advertising on all formats is being reinvented through new business models and the combination of big data, predictive analytics, optimization, and other modern data science and analysis techniques. Paramount Advanced Advertising is at the forefront of this reinvention and is currently looking for key new individuals to join our team!


Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Work with other data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to deliver products that empower our Ad Sales team.
  • Implement data driven methodologies to improve product performance and capability.
  • Monitor and maintain existing prediction, optimization, and simulation engines as well as overall platform health, as determined by business leadership.
  • Execute custom SQL queries against our data warehouse, run statistical data analyses, and write custom Python code in a production level environment.
  • Brainstorm new functionality and features for future platform improvements.
  • Work with semi-technical and non-technical business units in delivering actionable insights from large data sets.
  • Demonstrates acute attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and excellent time optimization skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem-solving and the resourcefulness/tenacity to find answers to difficult, open-ended questions.

 

Basic Qualifications You’ll Bring:

 

  • Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 2+ years professional experience in data analytics, media tech or ad tech -OR- Ph.D. in a STEM field. Professional experience excludes academic/intern-based work.
  • 2+ years of coding in SQL and Python, including object-oriented programming.
  • Understanding of common machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, etc.), linear & matrix algebra, hypothesis testing/statistics.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (Amazon Web Services/Snowflake/Oracle) and Unix/Linux based systems.

Bonus Skills:

 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including offering analytics to non-technical staff.
  • Exposure to mathematical optimization methods (specifically linear/mixed-integer programming) and/or modern optimization tools (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP).
  • Exposure to projects using AWS-based infrastructure, distributed data warehouses (Snowflake), and distributed computing (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience working on team-run data science projects (Git, Jira).
  • Experience in media at an agency, publisher, or ad-tech firm with a fundamental understanding of how advertising is bought and sold (digital, addressable, and/or linear television).
  • A committed, ambitious approach to building products within a fast-paced environment, with focus on changing the way partners perceive our brand.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $74,400.00 - 95,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
