Primary Responsibilities:

Paramount tech is looking for a Lead Database Administration who will join our Data Services team. The Lead DBA will provide leadership for our enterprise MySQL platforms for Paramount Global market. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills and out of box thinking. You should be very comfortable with software installation, advanced server configuration, performance tuning, and routine maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will be able to automate a majority of routine tasks and possess an inner need to constantly search for better, more efficient solutions. This role will also require some management functions as needed, including mentoring and coordinating our extended team’s activities. Your work must be accurate, timely, and insightful.

 

Key responsibilities:

· Provide leadership for MySQL or other Open Source database platforms.

· Explore future database technologies including Cloud offerings.

· Craft automation & code for management of a high volume of instances

· Defines high level standards for database management (and own responsibility for them)

· Proactively propose changes to achieve better performance and security

· Work together with the applications team to identify their needs.

· Troubleshoot and provide technical support for users and junior team members.

· Acts as a final point of escalation for issues that other DBAs cannot resolve.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

· Advanced knowledge of MySQL or other Open Source databases. (Including versions 5.6, 5.7, 8.0 and MariaDB, Postres, Redis etc)

· Hands on experience or willingness to learn automation tools like Terraform, Liquibase, Chef

· Knowledge of cloud architecture and services (AWS, GCP, AZURE)

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

· Out of a box thinking, searching for new non-standard solutions in database administration

· Proficient in other database technologies such as Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB is a plus.

· Strong performance tuning skills

· Strong scripting skills (preferably Python)

· Working experience with container services (Docker on Kubernetes) would be a plus

· Desire to learn and grow your skills in the modern DBA world.

· Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related field.

· Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $145,000.00- 160,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
