As Senior Editor in our novelty imprint Little Simon, this editor will have the ability to work on a variety of formats but the focus will be on creating and managing a large IP chapter book and graphic novel chapter book program. The Senior Editor will be tasked with developing new series, pacing existing series, creating outlines and story arcs, some writing, and managing the books from inception to publication, working across various departments from design to production, marketing and sales. There is strong ownership with this role with the responsibility to develop a project from an idea to a full blown chapter book series.

The editor should have strong creative instincts, a knowledge of the chapter book market – and a love for it -- and the ability to juggle pacing for multiple series throughout the year. With IP we not only conceive the idea and the premise for the series but write detailed, extensive outlines for each book, along with character bibles and story arcs for each series. As these careful outlines are completed it will be assumed that the editor has the resources to tap and discover new writers for each series, with the goal to develop a distinct voice for each. The Senior Editor will be joining an extremely creative, hands-on, collaborative group working at a fast pace. The Senior Editor will probably have about 40 titles per  year on their list.

Previous chapter book editing is mandatory.

Minimum editorial experience 7 years; strong writing and previous IP experience preferred.
