Lead with innovation at CBS Atlanta’s startup news operation. The Director, News Field and Studio Operations at CBS Atlanta will lead the news team by managing daily operations and large-scale productions, ensuring high-quality video and audio for broadcast in full VR environments! This role involves overseeing staff, encouraging a collaborative environment, and coordinating logistics for special events, while also developing strategies for system improvements and future technologies. Bring your creativity because you’ll be working regularly with news leaders, anchors, meteorologists, directors and producers in an immersive virtual environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Photojournalists, Editors, Directors, TOC and studio production staff to ensure high editorial and production uniformity.
- Improve the ARVR studio environment opportunity by exploring standard methodologies and pushing boundaries on what’s achievable.
- Coordinate ENG/SNG & Bonded Cellular field acquisition, shared helicopter program, sUAS drone operations and vehicle fleet management.
- Build opportunities for the development and growth of staff members in a creative, collective environment.
- Recruitment, hiring, training, evaluating, leading, and mentoring staff members to promote peak performance and efficiency.
- Cultivate a welcoming, harmonious, team-oriented culture.
- Supervise logistics set-up for special event coverage such as elections, conventions, and sports events.
- Communicate with corporate partners, vendors, and staff members about roles and responsibilities.
- Work closely with the News Management team to ensure compatibility of coverage and logistics.
- Consult with Design, Engineering and IT Management on the implementation of ARVR and future technologies.
- Be available via phone during off hours and for weekend or night work in emergencies or project deadlines.
- All aspects of ENG & Field Safety for News Teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in large market news management preferred.
- Familiarity with newsroom computer systems including iNews, Stratus, Edius, Adobe, Chyron & ELC.
- Proven experience with Sony ENG Cameras, mirrorless cameras, Osmos type action cameras.
- Experience with AR/VR studio environments including jib camera operation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of managers and staff with various levels of technical expertise.
- Strong team-building skills and ability to work well with the newsroom.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Strong communication skills.
