Position Overview
CBS2 / KCAL9, a television station duopoly, together with Nickelodeon Animation, a production facility in Southern California, is seeking a Director of MEP Systems (Full‑Time). This role requires deep expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of critical building infrastructure in support of Paramount Global operations.
The Director of MEP Systems reports directly to the Senior Director, Planning & Design.
Broadcast Center Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Support operations for CBS Network facilities, including CBS2 / KCAL9.
- Maintain and oversee all electrical systems, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switch (ATS) units, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units, electrical panels, transformers, and the 10,000‑gallon above‑ground storage tank (AST).
- Oversee HVAC systems, including chillers and cooling distribution infrastructure.
- Coordinate MEP operations for the 212,000‑square‑foot facility, including interior spaces and immediate exterior areas.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance windows that may impact KCBS/KCAL, CBS West Coast Network Operations, CBS West Coast News Bureau, Newspath, CBS Program Practices, and other related divisions.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure all MEP systems, including fire suppression systems, are installed, operated, and maintained to the highest standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and operational issues related to MEP systems.
Animation Studio Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Support operations for two distinct buildings within a single facility, including:

- A 72,000‑square‑foot, renovated, wood‑framed Animation Studio
- A 110,000‑square‑foot, five‑story Class A office building
- Attached multi‑level parking structures

- Maintain and oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure, including rooftop packaged units and the office building’s central chiller system.
- Coordinate routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
- Supervise the upkeep of all electrical systems, including emergency generators, ATS units, UPS units, electrical panels, and transformers.
Overall Responsibilities
- Manage budgets for capital projects and ongoing maintenance, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and fiscal discipline.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and trade partners to complete repairs and projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure that all MEP systems comply with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and standards.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of and adherence to OSHA regulations, fire safety standards, and all building compliance requirements.
- Partner with Paramount Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure operational continuity and regulatory compliance.
- Support emergency preparedness planning, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and life‑safety initiatives.
- Lead all aspects of renovation and improvement projects, including coordination of safety inspections.
- Assist the Finance team with forecasting departmental spending and long‑term capital planning.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in MEP management, installation, and/or maintenance.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Problem‑Solving: Proven ability to identify and resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through completion.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 160,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
