Job Description

Overview
Paramount is seeking a Manager, Software Quality Assurance Engineering to lead the design and build-out of testing infrastructure supporting Paramount’s large-scale software development and deployment ecosystem. This role goes beyond traditional testing. You will drive a shift-left quality culture, anticipate risks and failure points before they reach customers or production, and represent GQE in Scrum ceremonies and cross-functional discussions.

You will manage and mentor a team of quality engineers, partner with engineering leaders at a technical level, and provide strategic input on test coverage, automation, reliability, and overall software quality across consumer-facing platforms.

This role requires a blend of hands-on QA/automation expertise, people leadership across on-site and offshore teams, and the ability to evaluate and scale modern AI-powered testing tools.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead virtual, geographically dispersed teams, fostering collaboration across locations and time zones.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to help team members grow and perform at their highest potential.
  • Manage people across on-site and offshore teams.

Technical Strategy & Execution

  • Lead and manage the implementation of solutions for test automation, CI/CD, and DevOps for Client teams.
  • Champion a shift-left quality mindset within a dynamic, fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Continuously assess Quality Engineering capabilities against organizational needs, developing pilots, POCs, and implementation plans to close gaps.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-powered testing and coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or specialized AI test automation platforms) to boost Client teams’ productivity and automate repetitive QA workflows.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner with developers and technology leaders to drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Serve as a GQE representative in Scrum ceremonies and cross-functional discussions.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts, quality risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and continuously improve testing, quality assurance, and defect remediation processes.
  • Assess risk associated with identified defects and establish appropriate priority and severity levels.
  • Provide a holistic assessment of data quality across existing implementations and new feature development.
  • Develop data validation tests aligned with business and technical requirements within an Agile delivery methodology.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of testing experience in an Agile Software Development methodology.
  • 5+ years leading projects with minimal supervision.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, working with on-site and offshore teams.
  • 5+ years testing consumer-facing applications on WebCTV and built-in CTV platforms.
  • 5+ years developing test automation scripts using object-oriented frameworks (Selenium/WebDriver, Java).
  • Experience with Test Harness (TestNG), version control (GIT), SQL, CI/CD tools (Jenkins), build tools (Maven), debugging tools (Charles/Fiddler), Agile management tools (JIRA), and test management tools (TestRail).
  • Deep understanding of streaming playback fundamentals, with proven experience testing across WebCTV platforms (smart TVs, streaming devices) and hands-on use of QoE monitoring tools (e.g., Conviva, Mux) to identify and triage device-specific playback defects.
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern AI-powered testing and coding assistants, with the ability to evaluate, pilot, and scale AI tools that automate regression testing and enhance requirement validation.

Preferred

  • 2+ years of performance testing experience using commercial or open-source tools (jMeter, Curl, WebPageTest, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.).
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
