Overview and Responsibilities:
 
The Senior Data Engineer role is responsible for building and maintaining optimized, highly available data pipelines that enable deeper analysis and reporting.
This engineer’s duty is to monitor existing metrics, analyze data, and lead partnerships with other Data and Analytics teams to identify and implement systems and process improvements. This engineer also designs, architects, implements, and supports key datasets.
In this role, you actively lead the requirements gathering, design, and architecture of scalable data solutions. Lead and mentor the Data engineers, support code reviews, improve performance, and optimize existing data pipelines.
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Leads and takes ownership of complex data engineering projects.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data architectures, ensuring high data quality and performance.
  • Design and develop highly scalable and reliable data engineering pipelines to process large volumes of data across many data sources in the cloud.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements by automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
  • Develop and promote best practices in data engineering.
  • Develop real-time data-processing applications on Google Cloud.
  • Be part of the on-call rotation supporting our SLA’s.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
 
Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL programming.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working in data warehousing or data engineering environments.
  • 3+ years of experience developing data solutions on GCP, AWS, or OCI.
  • Experience in the ingestion of data from external APIs and data stores.
  • Experience in design, build, and operationalization of big data pipelines on Cloud Technologies.
  • Strong experience in authoring, scheduling, and monitoring workflows (Apache Airflow-related technologies).
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or Google Composer.
  • Experience in BigQuery and Dataflow.
  • Familiar with REST API concepts and asynchronous patterns.
  • Values software correctness and is enthusiastic about automated testing.
  • Can-do attitude on problem-solving, quality, and ability to execute.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 
Additional Qualifications:
 
  • Google Cloud Certified - Professional Data Engineer certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git and Bitbucket).
  • Familiar with Atlassian products Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiar with Lucidchart.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 143,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
