IS THIS ROLE FOR YOU?

We are looking for an exceptional Corporate Communications Manager with a background in television, streaming or a closely related sector to join us at a transformational time for Paramount in the UK.  

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an experienced communications professional who can operate confidently across external, internal and industry/stakeholder communications. 

You will be working across a portfolio that includes 5, the UK’s third largest commercial broadcaster and fastest growing PSB streamer, as it continues to supercharge its commercial impact and expansion in new content areas such as drama and premium sport. A key focus of the role will be to amplify the work of Paramount’s London-based international Ad Sales team, alongside other core business areas. The role will also support Paramount’s wider portfolio including Pay TV brands such as MTV and Comedy Central, as well as cross-company internal communications. 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications and working closely to support the SVP, Communications, the successful candidate will help to tell a clear and compelling story about Paramount’s strategy, performance and ambitions in the UK.  


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Paramount / 5 corporate profile in the UK 

  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Communications and SVP Communications to deliver a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the strategic priorities of 5, and Paramount’s wider business in the UK 

  • Identify potential stories, campaigns and opportunities for 5 and Paramount to tell a market leading story externally – whether in the media, or on relevant platforms. 

  • Where necessary, provide appropriate support, briefing and training for senior executives across the Ad Sales, free-to-air and pay TV editorial teams, among others, to support this strategic activity.  

  • Create and maintain high quality briefing materials to support senior executives and colleagues across the business.   

  • Establish relationships with relevant Research colleagues, brand teams, brand PR teams, legal. HR and Government Relations to enable this activity. 

  • Quickly build strong relationships with external and internal Comms counterparts in Paramount’s global business and ensure all activity and materials have appropriate input and sign off before executing. 

  • Create new avenues to deliver corporate communications campaigns – utilising digital and social media, particularly LinkedIn, to deliver strategy and campaigns 

Media relations, stakeholder and campaign delivery 

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with core press contacts across media, including national press (broadsheet and tabloid) and business correspondents, entertainment media and particularly the media and advertising trades.  

  • Confidently manage day-to-day press enquiries and escalate as appropriate.  

  • Develop and pitch news stories, features and comment ideas about 5’s content strategy, Ad Sales strategy, streaming platform and key developments, to amplify the business’ activities. 

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholder organisations across the industry, including communications teams in other PSBs and streamers, industry bodies, festivals, RTS, BAFTA, PACT etc. 

Support Internal Communications 

  • Support the creation and delivery of the impactful staff communications, across executive-led events, channels including digital signage, Slack and Paramount’s intranet, as well as staff emails.  

Wider Corporate Comms team support  

  • Deputise for the Senior Director, Communications as required 

  • Support across fundamental press office duties, such as media monitoring and tracking journalist moves.   

  • Ability to work on and support delivery of internal and external events – and ability to work outside of usual office hours to support wider team campaigns (including for Brand PR events) on occasion 

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Essential Skills and Experience

  • 5-10 years of communications experience in the broadcasting, streaming or related sector.   

  • Proven experience supporting Commercial / Media / Ad Sales communications in a similar role.  

  • A demonstrable understanding of the UK’s public service broadcasting and knowledge of issues – particularly in the regulatory environment - impacting the wider media and entertainment landscape.  

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills.  

  • Experience of managing issues relating to creative content. 

  • An understanding of and affinity with Paramount’s brands in the UK. 

  • Good contacts with national press, relevant trade and B2B media.  

  • Strong experience in digital and social delivery of corporate and internal communications – particularly experience of LinkedIn and other social media
