Overview: 

The Programming Manager for General Audience and Kids is responsible for content evaluation, content categorization presentation, programming, and overall success of the linear categories performance. They will help develop and implement strategies that deliver on the department KPI's and are on the front line of revolutionizing the future of TV and achieving the Pluto TV mission of entertaining the planet.


Responsibilities: 

  • Provide content expertise across formats ranging from factual, home, lifestyle, culture, and knowledge of kids content formats
  • Collaborate on defining programming objectives and lead all aspects of content scheduling using the tools and resources available to the editorial team
  • Manage and develop a team of two while overseeing contractors as needed
  • Highly skilled at building partnerships, leading cross-functional teams, and managing complex initiatives
  • Leverage data surrounding viewer behavior and content to inform and develop successful content strategies that optimize the performance of the channels within the categories
  • Collaborate with the larger Pluto TV organization, partnering with the Promotion and Marketing teams, Content Ops, and Content Acquisition/Partner Relations teams to ensure smooth cross-department operations and first in class viewer experience
  • Review and tirelessly research content and content catalogs and make selections that will positively impact category performance and department KPI's
  • Contribute best practices, scheduling strategies, and stunt concepts to the team
  • Learn new software and practices to increase efficiency and quality
  • Track and submit product issues and overall feedback for the Pluto TV content management system


Basic Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years experience in programming within a digital or traditional media environment with knowledge and passion in general audience content ranging from factual, home, lifestyle, and culture
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience


Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with leading and developing people
  • Comfortable with working in multiple content management systems
  • Highly articulate and an excellent communicator, with strong influencing skills
  • Creative problem solver with a strong work ethic who is comfortable with taking personal ownership
  • Strong data literacy with experience using analytic tools such as Tableau
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to resolve complex issues
  • Strong “experimental” mentality with the goal of using data to support the success of content
  • Ability to perform in-depth research and leverage data in the strategic planning of content
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • General knowledge of CTA and COPPA rules as well as other regulations surrounding kids programming and marketing is a plus

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $75,000.00 - 93,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
