Overview and Responsibilities
 
The VP, Production Finance reports to the SVP, Production Finance and is tasked with managing the financial and accounting processes from budgeting through production and wrap for all assigned projects. This includes, but is not limited to, Pattern and Amort budgeting, show cost reporting, cashflows, domestic and international tax credits, and show audits.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
 
  • Create, revise, and update production pattern, amort and pilot budgets for television projects (for both development and greenlit productions)
  • Design and maintain generic budget templates reflecting recent production activity in various territories
  • Strategic planning of production budgets and financial reporting deliverables
  • Research and estimate available tax incentives for both domestic and international projects
  • Hire and manage freelance production accounting teams to ensure financial policies and procedures are adhered to, and costs are precisely and timely reported
  • Guide to, and assist Prep/Wrap accountants with day-to-day workflow and questions
  • Working closely and in coordination with Creative, Production, Business, and Legal Affairs teams
  • Closely monitor production cash flows and funding requests to help manage PTVS overall corporate cash flow
  • Handle banking inquiries, production deposits, bank reconciliations, and wire transfer payments
  • Manage ATL payments, including creating payment schedules and analyzing payments for proper distribution
  • Oversee the turnover of projects from production to wrap
  • Maintain and update the accounting manual and forms
  • Stay informed of all union/guild contracts, including rates, rules, and regulations

 

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • 15+ years of experience with premium, scripted episodic television accounting, forecasting, budgeting and planning
  • Prior field experience as a controller or production accountant; thorough comprehension of production and production accounting responsibilities
  • Major studio/network experience
  • Knowledge and experience with union/guild agreements
  • Experience managing a team of show production accountants and in-house accountants
  • Experience with international productions and knowledge of tax incentive programs
  • Experience with Smart Accounting, PSL+, Scenechronize, and Cashet
  • Expert in the use of Movie Magic Budgeting and Excel
  • Must be able to travel (domestic + international) as needed
 
Additional qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure with minimal supervision

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $228,500.00 - 250,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
