Is this the role for you?
The Jr. Legal Counsel will report to Business and Legal Affairs ("BALA") VP and will support the other Senior Leadership Member of the BALA team and work closely with various departments to support contract management, legal research, compliance, and corporate governance. You will assist in drafting and reviewing agreements, conducting legal research, ensuring regulatory compliance, and using legal technology tools to improve efficiency. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
What will you be doing?
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and revise a variety of agreements, including licensing, production, distribution, confidentiality, and vendor contracts under the supervision of attorneys.
- Preparing contract summaries and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Legal Research & Analysis:
- Conduct contact due diligences and audits.
- Conduct legal research on Italian and EU laws, regulations, and case law relevant to media, entertainment, AI etc..
- Provide concise summaries of findings to the legal team.
- Compliance and Corporate Governance Support:
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with local, regional, and international laws, including intellectual property rights, and corporate governance requirements.
- Maintain and update compliance records and policies for International Markets.
- Support the preparation and filing of corporate documents, board resolutions, and regulatory submissions for EU operations.
- Assist with translations and legal documentation as needed.
- Legal Technology Utilization:
- Experience working with legal technology tools and platforms, such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) software, document review platforms, or legal research tools.
- Leverage tools such as document management systems, e-signature platforms, and AI-powered legal research solutions to streamline processes.
- Provide recommendations on adopting new legal tech solutions to improve workflow efficiency.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain the legal department’s database, including contract tracking, deadlines, and renewal schedules.
- Serve as a point of contact for the BALA SLT on legal-related inquiries and coordinate with the US-based legal team on cross-border matters.
What we are looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; paralegal certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, ideally within a media, entertainment, or technology company, or at a law firm with relevant expertise.
- Strong knowledge of Italian law; familiarity with UK and/or US legal concepts and practices is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in contract review, legal research, and drafting.
- Advanced proficiency in English (and another European Language would be a plus).
- Meticulous with strong organizational skills and the ability to lead multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Strong communication skills and a high level of integrity when interacting with internal collaborators and external counsel.
- Technologically savvy, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new legal software and tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, e-signature platforms, and legal document management systems.
