Overview and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Procurement, Marketing to lead sourcing and category strategy across marketing and advertising categories! This leader will serve as a trusted business partner to senior marketing, legal, and finance partners, driving supplier partnerships that deliver measurable value, innovation, and efficiency across media, creative, and marketing technology investments. Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Research Global Strategic Sourcing, this role will play a pivotal role in aligning procurement with business priorities, strengthening agency relationships, driving financial efficiency, and operationalizing enterprise sourcing strategies that fuel brand growth and performance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage end-to-end sourcing projects across marketing categories, from finding opportunities to contract negotiation to vendor optimization.
- Provide accurate and timely financial summaries of projects.
- Align sourcing and vendor strategies with integration timelines, company goals and roadmaps.
- Develop and implement category strategies across advertising agencies, media, creative, events, production, and marketing technology.
- Partner closely with senior marketing, finance, and legal partners to align on business priorities, ensure transparency, and drive consensus across teams.
- Deliver measurable value and total cost optimization through strategic sourcing, supplier collaboration, and demand management.
- Manage agency and vendor relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and compliance with corporate standards and governance.
- Apply analytical rigor to ambiguous data, developing insights and recommendations that guide partner decision-making and business outcomes.
- Drive adoption of digital procurement tools and analytics to enhance visibility, efficiency, and performance management.
- Lead supplier risk management and compliance efforts to protect and strengthen the company’s marketing supply base.
- Inspire change management and foster innovation within the marketing procurement function while maintaining business continuity.
- Mentor and develop members of your team, building marketing procurement capability and leadership for future growth.
- Own end-to-end contract negotiation processes, both domestic and international.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a high-velocity environment.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration to support business continuity and innovation.
- Use data-driven insights to identify and champion your own projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of procurement experience with significant focus on marketing and advertising categories.
- Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior marketing and finance leaders in complex, matrixed environments.
- Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, contract negotiation, and/or vendor performance management within marketing.
- Strong understanding of advertising and marketing activities; expertise with marketing technologies that enable digital and data-driven campaigns.
- Demonstrated data-driven financial competence and modeling experiencing.
- Familiarity with media audit rights and standard processes.
- Demonstrated success operating with agility, prioritizing strategically, and delivering results in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Additional Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
- Expertise in digital procurement and analytical tools (e.g., Ariba, Oracle Fusion, analytics driven by AI).
- Entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented mentality; comfortable wearing many hats and driving alignment across diverse partners.
