The Broadcast Manager plays a key role in ensuring detailed on-air operations across all network programming each day. In this dynamic position, you’ll lead day-of-air coordination within Air Control, guiding real-time decisions and troubleshooting to maintain broadcast continuity! As the primary point of contact, you’ll collaborate with the Media Distribution Center, Transmission, and Satellite Management Center, providing clear direction in response to any changes or interruptions in scheduled programming - keeping our content flowing smoothly for audiences everywhere!
 

  • Directs control room assignments during breaking news, ensuring accurate encoder routing and owning the execution of makegood feeds to maintain schedule integrity across all time zones.
  • Leads creation and execution of standby schedules during extended news coverage, using deep operational knowledge to build playouts, adjust programming, and coordinate switching per Programming’s directives.
  • Handles accurate network scheduling and switching via TOI, coordinating with Transmission, Satellite Management, and the Media Distribution Center. Oversees regional playout during live sports overruns, including NFL into primetime, and completes schedule changes to ensure makegood programming airs across all time zones.
  • Preps all special programming (e.g., Grammys, Tonys) by verifying origination parameters, live schedule structure, delay sources, and disaster recovery plans. Ensures accurate scheduling of West Coast fixes for later airings.
  • Responsible for making pitches with affiliates by phone and through the Broadcast Alert System (BAS) all network break timings and any changes to the schedules during fluid live news, entertainment, and sports events
  • Logs all on-air network irregularities in Harpoon ServiceNow and delivers detailed daily reports to key CBS business units to ensure visibility and operational accountability.
  • Schedules and inputs late ad sales and promotion material changes per CBS sales and marketing department requests. Ensures all feeds air the accurate material.
  • Supervises the Broadcast Control staff on duty including the Air Control Supervisor, Broadcast Integrator and Facilities and program coordinator. Coordinates the finalization and distributing of the revised daily air schedules for primetime late night and overnight programming
  • Finalizes and transmits the daily broadcast lineups through Nielsen NCL Tool for accurate ratings measurement
  • Runs and posts the final “As Runs” for CBS sales and CBS Marketing Departments daily
     

Basic Qualifications:
 

  • 3+ years of experience in a network broadcast operation’s
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Availability for a variety of shifts, including: Day: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Evening: 4:00 PM –12:00 AM, Overnight: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
  • Proven expertise in network broadcast origination, signal routing, and live coordination during high-pressure events including breaking news, sports overruns, and major live broadcasts.
     

Additional Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 116,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
