Overview:

The Designer, Global Softlines supports the day-to-day creative development and approval of licensed products across assigned Softlines categories, bringing Paramount’s iconic IP to life at retail. This is a highly hands-on design role focused on managing creative submissions, developing original product and graphic concepts, and providing clear creative feedback to licensees. The Designer is in charge of ensuring product within their assigned categories is brand-right, commercially relevant, and executed to a high creative standard. Working closely with Softlines leadership and cross-functional partners, the Designer manages multiple projects and licensee submissions. While also developing deep knowledge of Paramount’s franchises, category needs, and retail landscape.
 
This is an onsite role at our New York office.
 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day creative development and approvals across assigned softlines categories and licensees
  • Review product submissions and provide clear, actionable creative feedback in alignment with Paramount brand guidelines
  • Create original graphics, product concepts, layouts, patterns, and design solutions as needed to support licensee development
  • Ensure product executions properly reflect franchise strategies, approved assets, character guidelines, and brand standards
  • Partner directly with licensees to address creative issues and improve product execution
  • Support retailer and franchise initiatives through product mockups, presentation materials, and creative development
  • Participate in trend research and competitive analysis relevant to assigned categories
  • Maintain awareness of current fashion, retail, consumer, and cultural trends
  • Participate in partner meetings and creative reviews as needed
  • Collaborate with Brand, Retail, Sales, Marketing, and other members of the Global Creative Group
  • Manage creative assets, samples, submissions, and approval timelines across assigned projects
  • Execute hands-on design work including apparel graphics, product layouts, prints, patterns, trims, labels, packaging, and hangtags
  • Guide licensees on graphic applications, materials, fabrication, embellishments, and construction
  • Maintain consistency and quality across assigned categories and partners
  • Conduct regular retail and competitive research to identify relevant trends and product opportunities
  • Balance multiple ongoing submissions and projects while meeting established review timelines
  • Escalate larger creative opportunities or challenges to softlines leadership when appropriate

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in softlines design, fashion, graphic design, or licensed consumer products
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating branded apparel, accessories, graphics, or related product design

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience reviewing creative submissions or working within a licensing environment preferred
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of apparel construction, graphic applications, print techniques, and softlines production
  • Solid creative, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Solid attention to detail and respect for brand integrity

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $64,800.00 - 85,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
