Overview & Responsibilities:

Our in-house legal department plays a crucial role in navigating complex legal landscapes and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of eDiscovery and Information Governance to join our team and lead our efforts in managing electronic discovery and information governance.

 

The Director of eDiscovery and Information Governance will oversee the eDiscovery and Information Governance department. A seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department is required. The Director will be responsible for budgeting, project management, case management, and supporting the Paramount Law Department in various ESI and data requests. This role will also be accountable for the successful continued support of Paramount’s Information Governance program. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading all phases of the EDRM with a particular focus in litigation preparedness and data preservation to ensure Paramount regularly meets its legal obligations. Experience supporting complex litigations, compliance audits, internal investigations as well as regulatory responses are a must. A strong understanding of records management and records management policies is also required. This role will also liaison with and support outside counsel and various internal business units as needed, including, but not limited to Information Security, Data Privacy, IT Client Services and Sourcing.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead and mentor a team of eDiscovery and Information Governance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

  • Adhere to and develop project and program roadmaps for both eDiscovery and Information Governance.
  • Manage vendor and legal service provider relationships; participate in negotiating pricing and contracts for new engagements and renewals with vendors and legal service providers; and represent Paramount’s interests on customer advisory boards.
  • Seek opportunities for automation or external software to optimize processes.
  • Coordinate the eDiscovery process for litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with legal and process requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce Information Governance policies and procedures to ensure effective management of records and data.
  • Maintain and update records retention schedules in accordance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve processes.
  • Work closely with IT, compliance, and other departments to ensure alignment and integration of eDiscovery and Information Governance practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • 10 years' experience in a leadership role within a law firm or in-house legal department focusing on eDiscovery and Information Governance.
  • Proven track record of managing complex eDiscovery projects and Information Governance initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery processes, technologies, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of records management, data protection, and regulatory compliance.

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CEDS, CRM) preferred.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strategic and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $145,000.00 - 175,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
