Overview & Responsibilities:

The Digital Business Development team is responsible for identifying, securing, and maintaining licensing, distribution, and strategic partnerships for both CBS Sports, CBS News and Local Stations and other Paramount Global properties (specifically Paramount+) that drive reach and revenue for Paramount Global Reporting to the SVP of Business Development, the Business Development Director will oversee the day-to-day pursuit of crucial partnerships and will be tasked with driving expansion of the Sports & News Digital brands. The Director will be a vital member of the team, tasked with developing overall strategy for the business unit and identifying new business opportunities while closely overseeing key external relationships and focusing on continued relationship building with internal stake-holders!

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with broad team of Sports & News Digital stake-holders (legal, finance, marketing, product, technology, programming, etc.) to assure that potential partnerships focus on business priorities.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with current and potential partners, including prospecting on an ongoing basis to provide a pipeline of new opportunities.
  • Build deal terms, negotiate, close, and handle deals with existing and new partners. This may include licensing (including league rights deals), distribution, partnership, strategic alliance, and sales deals, among others.
  • Close collaboration with the Partnership Management team that oversees internal operations for external Partners – including operationalizing closed deals, day-to-day management, assisting with strategy development and assuring all deal details are addressed.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise across the sports and news digital landscape through research, prospecting and leveraging existing relationships. Includes sharing of knowledge and insights with internal constituents including CBS Sports, CBS News, Business Intelligence, and marketing teams.
  • Evaluate and provide strategic perspective on new technologies, trends, M&A opportunities, and business models including active participation in the ongoing development and execution of the Sports & News Digital strategy which will include serving as key liaison to Paramount+ stake-holders (business, product, programming, marketing, finance, etc.) to drive further development of the P+ sports strategy. Will include active participation in deal modeling and preparation of strategic and deal evaluation materials.
  • Mentor manager-level members of the digital business development team

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years working in digital business development, partnership management, or similar roles in the digital media space
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of digital media landscape

  • Excellent ability to organize, synthesize and present information
  • Expertise in both Excel and Powerpoint!

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $155,000.00 - 175,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
