ESG Director (Freelance)

Overview & Responsibilities:

The media and entertainment industry is one of the most powerful forces influencing and reflecting culture, social views, and societal outcomes. To fulfill our commitment to environmental and social responsibility, we seek an additional member to:
- Provide support for the ESG team while the VP of ESG is on parental leave.
- Prepare and review agendas, content, and presentation decks for ESG Council working groups and materials that will be used and presented at company board meetings.
- Liaise with leaders and subject matter experts across Paramount Global to identify material topic areas and pertinent information related to them and collect pertinent qualitative and quantitative data.
- Support the company’s climate strategy work, including environmental goal working group meetings, Science-Based Targets validation process, and greenhouse gas inventory
- Manage the company’s sustainable production strategy work: data collection, engagement with key internal and external partners.
- Manage the team’s ESG governance work, including updating data with rankers and raters, compiling data for gap analyses, conducting peer benchmarking, and drafting policy documents in key identified areas.
- Create and review presentations for key meetings with company leadership.
- Manage Earth Month planning and execution of initiatives.
This is a FT, Temp role from Nov 2024 to May/June 2025. Hybrid (1-2 days in office) at NYC location.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7-12 years of professional experience in ESG or Sustainability.
- Private sector ESG experience.
- Experience managing and implementing ESG strategies and companywide plans.
- A self-starter, able to work efficiently without all data or information.
- Comfortable and adept in navigating an ambiguous, matrixed environment.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Additional Qualifications:
- Advanced course work in ESG/sustainability, and specifically greenhouse gas emissions accounting
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with ESG reporting.
- Experience with assorted ESG reporting software.
- Comfort with using, manipulating, and presenting quantitative data to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrable ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners.
- An understanding of the entertainment industry and media production.
- A propensity for curiosity.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $68.00 - 75.00 per hour. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
