Editor, Originals & Adult – Global Publishing
Overview
We are seeking an innovative, proficient editor with a deep love of storytelling to join our Originals & Adult Global Publishing team. This role is ideal for a creative editorial professional who thrives in a dynamic studio environment and brings deep experience working across both internal and licensed publishing programs. The Editor will oversee various tasks. They will acquire and develop titles based on high-quality film, television, and animation properties. This includes graphic novels, adult and young adult fiction, and visually driven non-fiction. The non-fiction may focus on formats that are heavy on art and photography. The role requires close collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure each project is brand-accurate, creatively ambitious, and executed to the highest standards. This position works with different teams. These teams include film, television, franchise, animation, consumer products, and brand management. The goal is to create an engaging publishing program. This program will attract both adult and young adult audiences who are 13 years and older. A solid eye for creative storytelling and a solid knowledge of the middle-grade and YA spaces are highly valued.
Responsibilities

Develop and manage a full slate of titles across multiple properties and formats, from concept through final publication

Acquire new projects and shape editorial strategy for both vertical and licensed titles

Oversee title P&Ls and ensure robust financial performance

Provide editorial guidance, support, and approvals for licensed titles

Maintain and expand a trusted network of authors and artists

Partner closely with studio stakeholders—including filmmakers, producers, franchise teams, animation, and consumer products—on high-profile publishing initiatives

Build and sustain relationships with agents and creative talent

Attend domestic and international trade shows and conventions

Drive growth of vertical publishing programs in both YA and adult categories
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree
-
Minimum 5 years of publishing experience, with demonstrated success acquiring or developing branded and/or media-driven titles

Experience working in both licensed and vertical publishing environments

Robust knowledge of prose and graphic novel editorial workflows

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Keen visual sensibility, particularly with graphic novel art

Established relationships with agents, authors, and artists, and experience managing contract negotiations

Ability to work on-site five days per week

Exemplary written and verbal communication skills with robust storytelling instincts

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Strong P&L management skills

Extraordinary attention to detail and grammar

Domestic and international travel may be required

Additional Information
Hiring Salary Range: $75,000.00 - 110,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
