CBS News 24/7 is seeking a New York-based Director of Editorial Content to work closely with the Managing Editor and Executive Producers. This experienced journalism and news professional would serve as the liaison for NYC and San Francisco-based streaming programming.

The Editorial Director will work with EPs, managers and team leaders to help plan and execute live daily coverage on the CBS News 24/7 network. Top candidates for this position will demonstrate strong news judgment, communication and managerial skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects at once and to prioritize them appropriately. They must have the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, the diplomatic skills to work with many stakeholders across departments, and they also must be willing to work a flexible schedule.


Responsibilities:
●    Serves as the critical go-between in NYC for San Francisco-based staff on programming, planning and live news coverage and supports SF-based shows’ technical needs, including feeds, editing, graphics and overall production capabilities
●    Works with EPs to support and champion show needs and requests for correspondents, guests, editorial & newsgathering content, while empowering the showrunners to make key decisions about their rundowns and coverage plans
●    Liaises with the Managing Editor, Editorial Director and Booking Director on key editorial decisions as needed to help prepare for the day(s) and week(s) ahead, communicating with EPs, Planning/Desk, Booking, newsgathering
●    Supports the Managing Editor on any key programming pivots, helps give EPs the tools, notes, and support necessary to build their rundowns and shows
●    Coordinates with Managing Editor, EPs and Special Events in the planning and execution of live events, special reports and breaking news coverage 
●    Steps in for and manages delegated tasks of the Managing Editor in their absence
●    Works a flexible schedule and is expected to be reachable/available when on call during weekends and off hours


Qualifications:
 
●    8+ years of experience producing live segments and taped programming, with recent experience in a national newsroom or top local market
●    6+ years of experience working as a show producer in a live control room
●    5+ years of experience in management with demonstrated success building, developing, and leading teams
●    The ability to juggle multiple daily and long term editorial priorities and projects while remaining organized and maintaining a professional demeanor
●    that breaks news and brings new information to the audience in a clear and compelling fashion
●    Deep knowledge of news, politics and current affairs
●    Adequate knowledge and experience in working with editing, graphics and other technical aspects of live TV news production
●    This is an in-person role based in New York

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $170,000.00 - 190,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
