Overview:
We are seeking a trained Editorial Director with a fascination for innovating and disrupting the status quo to lead the publishing and acquisition strategy for our adult publishing program across Paramount-owned IP. In this role, the Director will be tasked with shaping the editorial vision of our adult publishing program, identifying high-value partnerships and ensuring editorial excellence from proposal to publication.
This leader will oversee the production of various types of books, including fiction, nonfiction, comics, graphic novels, and illustrated works. They will collaborate with departments involved with film, TV, franchises, consumer products, and branding. This key role requires robust creativity, great teamwork skills, and the ability to work well with others to achieve complex growth objectives.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Define and drive the long-term strategy and vision for our adult publishing program.
  • Develop and manage a frontlist pipeline informed by creative and business goals.
  • Hold Profit & Loss responsibility for acquired and managed projects.
  • Establish workflows and best practices for how the editorial team collaborates with studio and development teams, IP stakeholders, talent and other creative content sources, internally and externally.
  • Work closely with partners to secure approvals, maintain brand alignment and expand publishing opportunities.
  • Negotiate talent contracts, rights, and partnerships.
  • Represent the adult publishing program internally and externally, cultivating proficient relationships with authors, agents, and industry partners.

 

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years working in the publishing industry with demonstrated success acquiring or developing branded or media-driven titles.
  • Established relationships with authors, agents, and publishers across multiple categories.
  • Proven track record managing complex creative relationships and licensor approvals.
  • Willingness to work across multiple time zones.
  • Domestic & International travel required.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to diverse projects and competing priorities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 - 155,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
