Overview & Responsibilities:

 

The Financial Analyst will support the CBS News, Stations, and CBS Media Venture (CMV) Digital division and report to the Senior Manager, FP&A. The Analyst will assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of forecasts and budgets, tracking performance, managing monthly operating expenses, and using analysis to drive informed decision-making.

The Financial Analyst (News, Stations & CBS Media Venture) will help contribute by driving quantitative and qualitative analyses to optimize financial performance.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Budgeting/Forecasting. Work on business models to manage forecasting of the monthly P&L and drive the annual budget and financial plans for CBS News, Stations and CMV Digital Properties
  • Work with Accounting in preparation for monthly close. Manage month-end accruals, contracts, and invoices.
  • Expense management, risk analysis and mitigation. Actively monitor expense levers and cost controls required to maintain profitability and achieve budgeted profit targets.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams, including Ad Sales Revenue, Yield Management, Business Intelligent, Accounting, Strategy, and Partnerships to analyze and forecast the financial impact for News, Stations, and CMV
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Prepare financial data and various requests as needed and provide actionable analysis for internal review and rapid decision-making
  • This role is pivotal in delivering strategic, financial, and operational insights that align with the goals of the business

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of work experience in finance, accounting, or similar quantitative role; media, entertainment, and/or technology experience a plus
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace suite skills, particularly Excel/Sheets and Powerpoint/Slides
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
  • A willingness and quick ability to learn new software
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - be able to handle and synthesize large datasets to deliver critical insights in an easy-to-digest format for management and external partners
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of Cognos TM1 and Oracle Financials a plus!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000.00 - 80,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
