Overview and Responsibilities:
Nickelodeon Animation is looking for a Global VFX Supervisor to join the team! This role is a studio position that focuses on strategies for the growth and development of CG at Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation. The ideal candidate will work alongside production and technology teams to identify new software, pipelines, and tools to advance the studio forward. They will coordinate all aspects of the CG Supervisors within the studio, maintaining and refining standard methodologies for productions both inhouse and with partner studios. In this role, they will collaborate with departments throughout the studio, providing CG insight into topics including recruiting, events, and outreach opportunities for CG staff!

 

Responsibilities:
•    Partner with CG Supervisors, the technology teams, and artists to identify new software, workflow, and pipeline opportunities.
•    Work alongside technology teams to ensure studio-wide standards and practices are aligned and being met across all productions. 
•    Promote a positive and productive work environment and lead collaborative efforts at the studios, such as studio wide user groups and demos.
•    Maintain communication with partner studios to assist in troubleshooting pipeline issues and establishing workflow guidelines.
•    Use information from past production experiences to refine pipeline and practices for new productions.
•    Represent Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation CG community’s interests by participating in the planning of external events and industry conferences, such as SIGGRAPH, portfolio reviews, college visits, Artist Fellowship Program, etc.
•    Partner with production leadership to identify and reduce complexity found throughout the production process, as well as highlighting the cost implications of creative requests.
•    Collaborate with show creatives to establish a desired look and aesthetic for each production. 
•    Provide input during the look development and design phases to build feasibility for each production.
•    Complete performance evaluations and management of CG Supervisors, with input from production leadership and artists.
•    Meet with CG Supervisors on a continual basis, giving detailed updates of their production's needs, concerns, and successes. 
•    Analyze and elevate any topics as necessary to studio leadership.
•    Assist in the vetting of new partner studios at the studio's request.
•    Partner with recruiting and artist management departments in the recruiting, staffing, and artist casting for productions.
•    Upon studio’s request, step into the role of a VFX Supervisor on a specific production for an extended period of time.

 

Basic Qualifications:
•    10+ years of animated feature and/or episodic experience.
•    Strong knowledge of CG pipelines and experience with software packages used throughout animation pipelines.
•    Experience in leading, mentoring, and training large teams.

 

Additional Qualifications:
•    Accurately understand the entire production process, including production design, camera language, animation principles, practical effects, and lighting & compositing.
•    Ability to self-manage and motivate.
•    Communicate creative and technical thoughts clearly and efficiently across many departments and organizational levels of studio leadership.
•    Stay on top of new technologies and industry trends.
•    Work well under time constraints.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $135,000.00 - 160,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.   This position is bonus eligible.
