Overview: 

The Manager of Design and Construction is a New York-based role that serves as a key support resource on small‑ to large‑scale construction, interior design, and furniture projects. This position focuses on creating optimal environments that support productivity, employee engagement, and overall well‑being.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of architectural and interior design services by supporting Project Managers through all phases of design and construction, workplace strategy initiatives and solutions, and FF&E specification packages for the domestic real estate portfolio. This includes representing Paramount to external consultants hired to design the space and serving as the “Owner Representative” at design and construction meetings.
  • Assist Project Managers with the design, review, and selection of interior layouts, furniture, and finishes. Prepare presentation layouts, furniture, and finish materials for client review and approval. Create design presentations for internal clients. Develop documents, presentations, and specifications for contractor or vendor proposals. Document meetings and approvals.
  • Assist with and coordinate all furniture-related processes for Paramount, including designing private offices using established furniture standards. Manage external designers responsible for private office designs for senior executives. Manage and coordinate services provided by furniture dealers and vendors.
  • Coordinate and maintain the materials library and Design & Construction (D&C) standard workplace and design guidelines.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with consultants, construction vendors, and furniture dealers. Develop dealer support services, including timely project quotes, specification writing, layouts, and related deliverables.
  • Collaborate and coordinate Design & Construction activities with all Real Estate & Facilities staff as an integral means of achieving departmental synergy and the shared goal of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Core Services regional staff; Paramount point people; and IS&T, Telecom, Security, Production Technologies teams, and external vendors.
 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Seven or more years of experience in Interior Design with an architectural or interior design firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and passion for design, with the ability to translate concepts through execution and detailing with a high degree of style, innovation, and professionalism.
  • Excellent research and sourcing skills, with specific expertise in furniture systems and interior finishes.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCAD (Revit preferred); 3D modeling experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry, including construction terminology, processes, and frameworks, with the ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Active membership in IIDA, AIA, or CoreNet is a plus.
  • LEED or WELL Accredited Professional certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and motivational skills, paired with strong administrative capabilities, attention to detail, and consistent follow‑through.
