In This Role You’ll:

 

We at Paramount Tech are hiring a Manager, Maintenance Engineering! This position is responsible for planning and leading all aspects of the maintenance and support of production and broadcast systems for the Paramount brands at 1515 Broadway and the Broadcast Center. This includes leading staff and infrastructure that provides profound production support for systems in use, daily, across all production studios and stages. This individual will mentor and lead the staff in handling response to failures in content servers, network infrastructure, and studio production systems to mitigate impact to show production schedules, revenue, and ratings.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Diagnostic troubleshooting related to technical or operational issues impacting live feed and non-linear video distribution platforms and monitoring.
  • Handle immediate restoration and repair actions and vendor engagement of failed studio production and post-production equipment. Ensure that all facilities supported by Maintenance Engineering operate with the highest level of quality and performance.
  • Communicate with Operations teams to provide status of open requests, provide technical solutions as needed, proactively collaborate to anticipate operational needs and mitigate issues.
  • Assist the Director of Maintenance Engineering with handling day to day department operations, acting as the management lead when the Director is unavailable, attending meetings and communicating with senior level management.
  • Coach and mentor staff to develop effective troubleshooting methods to solve problems quickly, collaborate and devise innovative solutions to streamline and simplify systems design!

 

Basic Qualifications You Bring:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of dynamic leadership experience.
  • Good technical understanding of: Video and Audio Production, Broadcast Media Processing & Playout Systems, Network configurations, File transformation & movement, Database query/handling, Security, Software applications, Performance & system health analytics, Storage management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Additional Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or relevant experience is preferred.
  • CCNA, CCNP, RHCSE, RHCSA, PMP, ITIL Foundation.
  • In depth knowledge of television broadcast and computer systems
  • Solid understanding of media systems’ design and architecture
  • High level of initiative and collaboration, proactive and innovative approach to solving problems.
  • Industry knowledge, including recent trends in technology and awareness of competing products and services.
  • Leadership skills, Coaching, Mentoring, Feedback, Conflict Resolution, Client Service skills
  • Experience in the design and/or maintenance of Broadcast IT facilities.
  • Knowledge of IP video SMPTE 2110 and SMPTE 2059 PTP, and Dante Audio.
  • Familiarity with networking components and topology.
  • Broadcast video servers & broadcast playout automation systems like Grass Valley AMPP, Sony ELC, Crispin
  • Telestream Vantage workflows and transcoding platforms.
  • On prem and cloud storage solutions.
  • AutoCad and/or Visio.
  • Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, EVS, Telestream Live Capture
  • Knowledge of RF, satellite uplinks and signal acquisition.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 130,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
