Overview and Primary Responsibilities:

 

The Technical Manager is the primary on-site MPO management representative assigned to the various CBS News productions, including Evening News, CBS Mornings, CBS Streaming, Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours and Special Events! The Technical Manager works closely with the Producers, Directors, Scheduling, and others to facilitate below-the-line production planning and execution. They also lead all aspects of and coordinate the delivery of all CBS resources to a production including technical and stage union labor, distribution, support personnel (make-up, hair, wardrobe), production facilities, building facilities, security, Aramark, etc. And work with scheduling to ensure that the hours for all union labor are accurately entered for payroll and for billing.

 

Another critical aspect of this position, especially during live production, is to check-in and coordinate all live remotes including satellite, fiber, zoom, etc. to ensure that remote guests and talent can hear the control room; that the control can see and hear the remote; that the audio, video, Director and AD know how to see, hear and speak to the remote talent; and to troubleshoot any issues with regard to the remote. The Technical Manager is also responsible for coordinating the troubleshooting of all technical issues in their assigned control room.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

· 5+ years’ Experience working in a Live Control Room environment

· 5+ years’ Experience and knowledge of studio production requirements

· Knowledge of technical facilities and transmission

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

· Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, and database entry

· Ability to work in a fast paced, high-intensity environment

· Must be flexible and work nights and/or weekends

· Ability to multitask, problem solve multiple issues at any given time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 140,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
