Overview and Responsibilities:
The Principal Engineer in Network Design and Engineering is a position that combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership qualities. The role is tasked with providing and supporting highly scalable and robust network solutions for high performance and mission-critical media and corporate systems. Working within the larger Paramount Global network organization, the role is expected to lead in all aspects of a network project life cycle, including cross functional team engagements.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide highly scalable, highly available and robust routing and switching designs for both media and corporate workflows.
• Evaluate emerging and cutting-edge technologies, provide guidance on platform selection and lifecycle management.
• Provide leadership in vendor engagement, including support and escalation.
• Provide guidance on network and security standards and best practices across the networking organization.
• Lead network change lifecycle, including implementation and support. Act in subject matter expert capacity to network support and knowledge transfers.
• Maintain detailed network documentation and diagrams and keep up to date.
• Actively engage in architecture and engineering solutions peer reviews and discussions.
• Work independently with reasonable judgment while providing clear documentation of activities and accomplishments
• Maintain close relationships with peers and management across all cross functional team, and at times act as liaison.
• Knowledge transfer to Level 2 and Level 3 Engineers on new implementations
• Collaborate with Level2 and Level3 teams to trouble-shoot network and firewall issues
• Escalation point for Level 2 and Level 3 Engineers and peers
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field or equivalent experience
• Expertise in IP Network and IP Security design and implementation with at least 3-5 years in a senior or lead role.
• Expertise in working with major networking vendors, such as Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Netscaler, etc. (8-10 years of experience)
• Programming/Scripting experience
• Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including MPLS. (8-10 years of experience)
• Expert knowledge of IP multicast and QoS.
• In-depth knowledge of network management tools.
• Experience in medium/large corporate network rollout and support
• Experience in Media/Entertainment/Broadcast/Hosting/ISP environment
Additional Qualifications:
• Strong team player, ability to collaborate closely with peers and across teams. Ability to mentor to junior engineers
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex network designs to non-technical stakeholders
• Possesses solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure
• Possesses the ability to skillfully and efficiently manage time and priorities, while working on multiple projects and tasks concurrently
• A well-developed interest in technology
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and situations.
• Detail oriented and organized, strive to provide meticulous work.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $175,000.00 - 215,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
