#WeAreParamount on a mission to unleash the power of content… you in?
We’ve got the brands, we’ve got the stars, we’ve got the power to achieve our mission to entertain the planet – now all we’re missing is… YOU! Becoming a part of Paramount means joining a team of passionate people who not only recognize the power of content but also enjoy a touch of fun and uniqueness. Together, we co-create moments that matter – both for our audiences and our employees – and aim to leave a positive mark on culture.

Overview
This role focuses on advancing the next generation of Paramount’s platform technology to ensure that streaming applications are faster, more reliable, and architecturally prepared for significant future growth. As a key technical leader, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy and exercise broad judgment to shape the evolution of the platform and influence its long-term architectural direction. You will act as a bridge between high-level ideas and applicable, scalable solutions by working cross-functionally with product, design, and playback teams. Beyond internal management, this position serves as a primary technical point of contact for global external partners like Google, Sony, and Samsung to optimize platform capabilities and performance across a massive range of consumer devices.

Responsibilities
  • Architectural Evolution: Identify and implement strategic improvements to platform architecture to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Technical Initiative Lead: Explore and validate new frameworks/ideas and translate them into engineering standards.
  • Cross-Functional Consistency: Ensure architectural consistency across multiple platforms (Web, TV, Consoles).
  • Establish Excellence: Create performance benchmarks, coding standards, and documentation to improve developer velocity.
  • Mentorship: Foster a culture of technical curiosity and data-driven decision-making among senior and mid-level engineers.
  • External Partner Management: Maintain engineering relationships with OEMs (Samsung, Sony, Roku, etc.) for performance optimization and technical certification.
  • Performance Investigation: Lead deep-dive "hands-on" problem solving and investigations into system performance or memory issues.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent functional experience.
  • 10+ years of professional SDE experience, specifically building large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Solid insight of embedded web-based applications, device constraints, memory management, and rendering optimization.
  • Deep comprehension of advanced rendering technologies like WebGL or OpenGL.
  • Skilled in performance profiling, debugging across multiple environments, and using telemetry systems (New Relic, Datadog).
  • Awareness with modern CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and observability.

Additional Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of Smart TV ecosystems (Tizen, WebOS, Roku) or multi-OEM environments.
  • Knowledge of video playback technologies and playback-specific SDKs.
  • Experience building SDKs, shared libraries, or modular frameworks for code reuse.
  • Expertise in GPU/Graphics profiling, shader tuning (GLSL/HLSL), texture optimization, and canvas-based rendering.
  • Experience collaborating with UX/Design teams to translate visual concepts into high-fidelity, performant production code.
  • Experience documenting technical findings (ADRs) in Confluence and managing workstreams in JIRA.
