REMOTE Senior Software Engineer - Observability

This critical Senior Software Engineering role on the Pluto TV Team includes responsibilities for system and server management, database management, configuration management, issue remediation, preventative and corrective maintenance, and performance monitoring and enhancement for our cloud / hosted large scale consumer video service. The Engineer in this role will enable the Production Operations group to increase reliability across various tools and technologies. We’re looking for a star Engineer who has proficiency in backend systems and is confident with high volume and high-performance Go and Node.js systems, as well as vast knowledge of AWS to apply to both short and long term fixes for code and infrastructure.­­­


Responsibilities Include

  • Build out and maintain new telemetry tooling for monitoring and observability across all services.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrable experience supporting large-scale projects.
  • Ability to identify measures or indicators of application performance and the actions needed to improve or correct application performance.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, uncertainty, and incomplete information when evaluating alternatives and making recommendations.
  • Respond to emerging incidents, solve critical issues, and follow through with a plan for resolution or future mitigation
  • Act as a SME on the Engineering Operations team, partnering with backend services teams and application teams such as Roku or Android to overcome challenges across all the platforms where stream our service


­ Requirements

  • 7+ years designing, implementing, and running services in demanding high-traffic environments
  • 4+ years using Golang or Nodejs
  • 4+ years working with AWS
  • 2+ years of Operations experience
  • 1+ years implementing Observability tools such as DataDog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or similar

Hiring Salary Range: $135,000.00 - 155,000.00. 


The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
