Overview:

CBS Sports has become one of the preeminent broadcasters in the US covering soccer. The Senior Manager, Programming is responsible for managing all the soccer leagues in our portfolio including all UEFA club competitions, Serie A and Coppa Italia, the English Football League and Carabao Cup, Concacaf, NWSL, USL, Scottish Premiership and more! They will have a stake in every part of the programming process from scheduling to relationship management to content acquisition. They will collaborate with other members of the programming team to strategically program all soccer properties across platforms – the CBS Television Network, CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports Golazo Network and Paramount+. It will also require close collaboration and communication with other teams such as Sales, Marketing, Social and Operations to not only disseminate all appropriate programming information, but also work towards achieving company goals.


Day-to-Day:

  • Manage the soccer master schedule and distribute frequently via email distribution lists with programming updates (both schedule releases and updates)
  • Understand the key obligations and deal terms of all soccer deals to manage internal expectations and help drive the strategies for all other teams
  • Work closely with partners of soccer leagues to handle schedule updates, provide booking information, and act as the liaison between the leagues and CBS Sports by funneling all internal requests
  • Work with other members of the programming team to program matches on all platforms and communicate with key partners on clearance restrictions and priorities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to devise a promotional strategy that aligns on both company and relationship goals
  • Onboard new partners following established protocols and collaborate with others to assess operational workflows for new properties
  • Constantly communicate with the production team to assess level of studio support for matches on key properties
  • Drive awareness to key programming on a weekly/biweekly basis in meetings with different partners
  • Take pitches for soccer-specific programming, assess opportunity, negotiate terms, and if appropriate, work with legal team to paper and execute the agreement
  • Assist leadership in the execution of high-value programming deals
  • Brainstorm programming initiatives and creative match coverage to continue improving the CBS Sports Golazo Network programming strategy
  • Analyze performance data from all platforms to better understand audience behavior and serve our partnerships in the most efficient ways
  • Work with the operation and production teams to determine best workflows for delivering match feeds to all platforms
  • Create and distribute commercial formats for all live events on CBS Sports Network (including all programming, not only soccer)
  • Assist other members of the programming team by helping with building the CBS Sports Network schedule on the scheduling software


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Intimate knowledge of the global soccer ecosystem and understanding of the intricacies of every level of competition from FIFA through second division domestic leagues for both the men’s and women’s game, including domestic properties such as NWSL, Concacaf, US Open Cup and USL
  • Personal fandom and experience with soccer is strongly desired
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years working in media
  • Ability to multitask and balance different priorities at the same time with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and team oriented)
  • Ability to run meetings, present and engage with clients
  • Knowledge of TV scheduling software (Broadway)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Airtable strongly desired
  • Knowledge of broadcast and streaming production/operations preferred
  • Available when live events are happening, including nights and weekends

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $96,300.00 - 128,400.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
