Overview:
Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Lead sales strategy and revenue growth in special markets, alternative channels, and non-traditional retail while owning the annual sales and financial targets.

Develop and execute strategic account plans across a diverse portfolio of children’s and adult titles, brands, and IP.

Find, develop, and close new business with customers and partners across specialty, corporate, promotional, direct-to-retail, direct-to-consumer, subscription, entertainment, hospitality, and other emerging channels.

Build deep relationships with existing and prospective accounts. Comprehending their business needs and developing customized programs, product solutions, and sales opportunities that drive incremental revenue.

Proactively identify market trends, emerging channels, and customer opportunities that can expand the reach and commercial potential of our publishing portfolio.

Partner closely with internal Editorial, Marketing, Creative, Production, Finance, and Legal teams to develop and execute commercially viable programs and products.

Develop sales forecasts, budgets, revenue targets, and business plans; monitor performance and adjust strategies to maximize results.

Negotiate pricing, terms, and commercial agreements while protecting brand equity and maximizing profitability.

Develop creative ways to monetize existing IP and content, including custom editions, special formats, bulk sales, promotional programs, partnerships, and other alternative revenue opportunities.

Present sales performance and pipeline opportunities. Share market insights and growth strategies with senior leadership.

Collaborate across the broader organization to identify opportunities to leverage successful properties and extend them into new customers, channels, formats, and markets.

Stay closely linked to the competitive landscape, customer priorities, and evolving consumer behavior to anticipate opportunities before they become mainstream.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree required.
-
8+ years of experience in publishing sales. Special markets, business development, or related field preferred.

Demonstrated track record of advancing revenue, developing new business, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales goals.

Proven ability to develop strategic accounts and cultivate relationships with customers and external partners.

Experience identifying and converting non-traditional and alternative-channel opportunities into meaningful revenue streams.

Solid commercial instincts with the ability to evaluate opportunities, assess market potential, and develop compelling business cases.

Experience negotiating complex deals, pricing, terms, and customer agreements.

Ability to manage a broad and varied portfolio of products and IP across both children’s and adult publishing.

Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated ability to find creative solutions and turn emerging opportunities into scalable businesses.

Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Solid analytical, forecasting, and strategic planning capabilities.

Highly collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 - 135,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
