Scope of Job: Paramount is looking for a passionate, self-motivated Sr. Software Quality Engineer to handle all aspects of testing (functional, performance, load, security, etc) across a large multiplatform environment. This individual will be collaborating with various teams (product, engineering, and quality) by assisting with the development of processes and tools that allow the organization to excel in its continuous software development initiatives. As code is being delivered multiple times per day, test coverage and automation is crucial in allowing product to deliver quickly to market while maintaining the high level of quality our consumers deserve across our many diverse platforms.
** To be considered for the role, you must have OTT testing experience in both web and mobile and expertise in Java, TestNG, Selenium, and video streaming technologies (HLS and/or Dash)
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical quality engineering mentorship to the projects and resources that are assigned by implementing testing standard methodologies
- Work on product/project teams developing test plans, test cases, and test execution
- Partner with software engineering to craft and develop tools and assist in continuous development initiatives
- Conduct technical assessments of processes and teams
- Partner and mentor other test engineers to continuously improve processes and lead internal training bootcamps
- Help and maintain the testing framework for various types of testing (functional) on multiple platforms (web, iOS/Android, emerging platforms).
- Automate video player test cases, Video automation, video playback, audio playback, and closed captions
- Operate in an agile software delivery methodology focused on testing new features within an iteration and providing near-immediate feedback to engineers through test automation
- Perform exploratory testing and regression testing where necessary
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting many products on varied release cycles
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of software quality practices and ability to learn & adopt emerging concepts
- Strong software development and technical architecture skills
- Strong object-oriented programming background and a passion for scalability, reliability, and reusable code
- Expertise in Java programming language and excellent understanding of OOP concepts
- Experience with version control systems (svn, git, stash)
- Testing browser-based applications, Chrome, Safari, IE
- Experience with test tools (Selenium, Webdriver, TestNG, Appium, Android UiAutomator, iOS UiAutomation)
- Proficient with continuous development tools and build tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)
- Experience with web video playback, encoding, live streaming, and similar concepts
- Knowledge of proxy tools (Charles, Fiddler, Httpwatch)
- Technical/working knowledge of information technology concepts, local and wide area networks, content delivery networks, database theory, and understanding of caching strategies.
- At least 5 years of designing and working with test automation frameworks and developing automated test scripts (web, new technologies) specifically object-oriented frameworks
- 3+ years of understanding and working experience in OTT web and mobile applications
- Experience with online streaming video experiences (web, mobile & OTT technologies)
- Experience in video streaming technologies HLS, DASH, DRM (Play ready, wide vine), DAI (Dynamic ad insertion)
- Knowledge of video streaming products encoder, packager, CDN, Conviva
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field and/or equivalent work experience
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $100,000.00 - 130,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
