Paramount is looking for a Vice President of Tech Finance to join the team! This role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for orchestrating and optimizing the financial functions within the technology division of the company. This Vice President is embedded in both the Technology and Corporate Finance departments and will dually-report to the Paramount Chief Technology Officer and SVP, Corporate Finance. This role demands a seasoned professional with a comprehensive understanding of both finance and technology, contributing to the strategic financial success of the organization. The VP of Tech Finance is not only strategically focused but also an inspirational leader who encourages collaboration and innovation within the finance team.

 

The Technology function is intertwined in all areas of Paramount operations, including show production, preparation of content for distribution, streaming workstreams and employee effectiveness. This complexity requires a finance executive with a strategic mentality and business lens that can develop near-term and long-range plans, as well as drive execution of these plans. As a service provider, this person will lead negotiations with internal Technology partners and will work closely with division-level finance leaders and other senior executives. The VP is responsible for preparing and submitting the financial long-range plan, annual budget and monthly forecast for the Paramount Technology organization. This involves detailed analyses covering the $1B+ expense and capital spend in the global technology function and determining allocation methodologies across the company.

 

The VP will lead an international team of 20+ finance professionals, located in the US, London and Budapest and will support a technology organization spread across the world. The ideal candidate will lead, mentor, and inspire a hard-working tech finance team by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. This position will nurture an inclusive team environment with transparency and open communication.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Financial Oversight

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting processes for the Technology functions to ensure accuracy and predictability.
  • Implement robust budget tracking mechanisms, continuously monitoring actuals against forecasts and making recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues and discover areas of opportunity to improve speed and quality of financial results.
  • Partner with Compensation team to manage forecast models for compensation expenses for the 1,000+ Technology employees.
  • Prepare and present financial performance of the Technology function to EVP, Corporate Finance and to the Paramount CFO

Partnership with Technology

  • Partner with technology executives to shape and implement financial strategies that support the organization's growth and innovation objectives.
  • Lead financial due diligence for potential technology investments, conducting detailed return on investment analysis and risk assessments.
  • Provide thought partnership to the CTO and the Technology leadership team. Offer input into the Technology strategic plan and provide financial analysis and insight on the execution of the plan.
  • Prepare presentations and handle special projects and analyses.
  • Develop and deliver clear and concise presentations on financial matters to non-financial partners.

Team Leadership

  • Cultivate a collaborative culture within the team and across departments, fostering open communication and knowledge-sharing.
  • Inspire members of the team with a compelling narrative that motivates them to contribute to the department's success.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between finance and technology teams to enhance overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance on career development, setting clear expectations, and conducting regular performance evaluations.
  • Optimize team skills and locations to leverage centers of excellence and low-cost locations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 15+ years in Finance or Accounting, preferably within the Media industry and/or with the Technology function. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required, CPA, MBA or similar advanced degree/designation preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience, ideally with leadership experience in Finance, and some experience in a global, matrixed organization a plus.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into financial implications.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance standards, and accounting principles.
  • Proven analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a track record of implementing successful financial strategies.
  • Results focused with ability to balance multiple assignments at a time in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey financial insights to diverse audiences.
  • Able to build positive relationships and skilled at engaging with corporate senior leadership and finance peers.
  • Inspirational leader who actively seeks diverse views and fosters a.collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Some travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $176,800.00 - 210,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
