About the role:
We now have a new position available in our SYDNEY newsroom for a multi-skilled COS/Producer.
Functions will include:
- Source and pitch compelling stories to attract, inform and engage our audience.
- Assist teams for news gathering - this will include journalists, camera crews and additional resources when necessary.
- Help manage the journalists and provide feedback when necessary.
- Work closely with the production desks/COSs/Exec Producers around the network on a daily basis.
- Often work under extreme time pressures to meet multiple daily deadlines.
- Help organise the newsroom’s 24-hour coverage of news events.
- Be the internal and external liaison across the newsroom with an innate ability to plan a strategic approach to everything!
- Help write and produce stories as required.
- Find people! The ability to chase down talent is a key strength.
About you:
- You are a news junkie who can quickly cut through the clutter with your superior news judgement.
- You have a track record of creating compelling broadcast, social media and digital content.
- You’re logistically savvy, have strong communication skills and the ability to make decisions under extreme pressure.
- You have the people skills to lead a diverse group of high achievers in a deadline driven environment.
- Prior experience in a newsroom and an innate ability to multitask is essential.
- Ideally, we are after a person with a background in television news but if you have a strong track record in daily radio or print news we could be swayed to consider you for the position.
- ou’ll have an eye for detail and be able to identify and solve problems before they happen.
- Not afraid to pick up the phone.
- Will require weekend work or some unsociable hours, as per normal in a busy news environment
