Enough about us! What you’ll do as a Digital News Producer:  

  

The Digital and Multi-Platform News Producer plays a crucial role within the 10 News First team. This position is integral to the creation of engaging and impactful news content for social media platforms, ensuring timely coverage of breaking news as it unfolds. Additionally, the role provides essential support to the broadcast team by enhancing social and digital coverage. There are also exciting opportunities to contribute to the production of broadcast, BVOD, and streaming news content, making this a dynamic and multifaceted position. 

   

Functions will include: 

 

  • Source, research, and produce compelling news stories and posts for 10 News First broadcast and 10 Digital accounts, with a strong emphasis on video content. 
  • Manage 10 News First social accounts, applying strict community moderation standards to maintain a professional and engaging presence. 
  • Collaborate with broadcast teams on bulletins, including sourcing, packaging, and editing content to ensure high-quality production. 
  • Compile clear, concise scripts for broadcast bulletins, ensuring accuracy and a consistent tone that aligns with our strategic voice. 
  • Write for social and broadcast platforms, maintaining a strong sense of our strategic tone, style, and voice. 
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of breaking news procedures, understanding how major stories are covered on social media and broadcast news bulletins. 
  • Demonstrate video and photo editing skills – experience with Canva and Adobe Premiere is preferred. 
  • Exhibit a refined news sense, with the ability to identify compelling stories, trends, and ideas using social and digital media. 
  • Develop strong relationships and trust within the newsroom, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. 

 

What are we looking for in a Digital News Producer? What’s important?   

  

  • Previous experience in a newsroom/news production environment 
  • A passion for news 
  • An innovative mindset when it comes to content creation 
  • Ability to work with CMS and other systems for digital and broadcast output of 10 News bulletins 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced news environment 
  • Ability to foster and manage key working relationships both within a local newsroom and across a nationally based social team 
  • A fastidious eye for detail and a keenness for fact-checking 
  • Knowledge of media law  
  • Flexibility to regularly work outside regular office hours, particularly late nights, and on weekends when required 
  • Work in-office
