We now have a Permanent full-time role based in Sydney for a Journalist looking to grow their career in a busy metro  newsroom.  

As part of our Sydney newsroom, you’ll not only originate, research, and produce high-quality news stories, but also play a key role in organising coverage. You’ll be trusted with responsibility and encouraged to contribute on a daily basis, which will only strengthen your experience and confidence.

You’re confident under pressure, editorially sharp, and ready to take ownership of your work. Reporting to the Executive Producer, you’ll thrive in a collaborative team that values impactful journalism, fast thinking, and a clear editorial voice.

In this role you will:

•    Pitch and develop original story ideas – taking them from concept to camera for compelling television news coverage.
•    Thrive under pressure, delivering clear, accurate, and engaging content to tight daily deadlines.
•    Own the moment on-air with confident, informed live reporting during major breaking news events.
•    Play a key role in editorial direction, contributing sharp story instincts and pitching news that resonates with our audience.

What makes a great Journalist at 10 News?

We’re looking for a newsroom all-rounder — someone sharp, adaptable, and passionate about delivering outstanding TV news. Here’s what sets you apart:

•    Strong editorial instincts and the ability to make smart, fast decisions under pressure. You know what makes a great story and how to bring it to life on screen.
•    Proven on-air and behind-the-scenes experience as a television journalist, with a solid track record in news reporting and production.
•    Exceptional communication skills, on camera and off, with the ability to write and produce for clarity, impact, and audience connection.
•    A strong grasp of current affairs, from local headlines to global issues — and the ability to shape stories for diverse audiences across multiple platforms.
•    Tech-savvy and newsroom ready, with working knowledge of iNews and Avid MediaCentral preferred.
•    Calm under pressure and deadline-driven, with the flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends when the story demands it.
•    Logistically smart, understanding the moving parts of TV news – from crews and timing to locations and legal considerations.
