This is a 9-month leave-cover role based in PYRMONT. 
Office days are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 2 days WFH. 

 

The Payroll Officer is responsible for providing administrative support as well as the delivery of the payroll needs through an outsourced provider (ADP) for permanent, freelance and casual employees across MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and Paramount.

 

Functions will include:

 

  • Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and distribution of monthly and fortnightly payroll across all legal entities
  • Being the first point of contact for payroll queries and resolving payroll related disputes/queries  
  • Reviewing payroll procedures and controls and improve processes on an ongoing basis
  • Ensuring that the company is audit-compliant regarding complete payroll paperwork e.g. Signed off timesheets, executed contracts, tax forms, leave record management and related information
  • Providing payroll information to management and finance to help support budget & estimate processes
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and update legal information where and when required
  • Management of systems (set up, staff training docs, re-setting passwords, maintain updated emergency contact details) 
  • HR reporting on payroll data and other reporting as required (such as headcount, leave reports etc)
  • Administer payroll in accordance with the latest legislative requirements relating to Superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and work cover, including yearly reconciliations
  • IR – ensure regular updates on industrial relations are provided to the full HR team, covering Awards, latest legislative changes on parental leave and other policies


What are we looking for in a Payroll Officer? What’s important?

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable (completion of secondary education required)
  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and IR
  • Proven experience processing permanent & casual payrolls against non-negotiable deadlines 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Modern Awards and employment agreement interpretation 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Knowledge of ADP and Global View payroll system is highly desirable
  • PeopleSoft experience is a plus
