We now have a permanent full time role based in our Sydney studio.

 

What you’ll do as a Studio Operator:  

A Studio Operator Level 1 is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Pyrmont studio facilities, supporting the delivery of live news broadcasts and other television programming.  This role is suited to a passionate and adaptable television professional with strong all-round technical and operational capabilities.  

 

We are seeking a studio all-rounder who is equally at home operating Viz Mosart (or other studio automation systems) and conducting studio floor operations including camera, floor managing and autocue operation. 

 

The role requires close collaboration with producers, journalists, presenters, and studio crew to ensure productions are delivered smoothly, accurately and to the highest professional standard.

 

Some of the key responsibilities include: 

  • Contributing to the successful delivery of live news broadcasts, updates, and other studio-based productions 
  • Preparing studio, technical, and production elements ahead of live broadcasts and recordings
  • Supporting studio productions including camera work, talent coordination and autocue operation
  • Workingt closely with producers, presenters, journalists, and studio crew to meet production requirements and deadlines
  • Leading and supporting studio crew by providing clear communication and operational guidance
  • Responding to changing production requirements and breaking news situations calmly, efficiently, and professionally
  • Monitoring broadcast quality and ensure productions meet operational and editorial standards
  • Communicating technical requirements, issues, or limitations clearly and professionally
  • Maintaining a safe studio environment by ensuring cables, rigs, and equipment are secure and hazard-free

Experience  

  • Demonstrated experience working in a live studio environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships
  • Experience operating studio equipment
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines

Skills/Knowledge 

  • Understanding of studio production workflows
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
  • Client-focused, ability to meet key stakeholder expectations
  • Detail-oriented, organised, flexible and timely
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to adapt and meet deadlines 

Preferred by not essential 

  • Mosart template design
  • iNews or other NRCS rundown editing
  • Previous use of autocue software and hardware
  • Camera operation
  • Television technical operations experience
