DESCRIPTION: 
Division Overview: 

The team for Paramount+ is responsible for servicing Paramount Global’s premium online content around the world. We’re home to exclusive original shows and movie (Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek Discovery, The Good Fight, Yellow Jackets, Twilight Zone, Maverick) and also help millions of viewers consume and enjoy content across all of Paramount Global’s global brands (such as Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Smithsonian, MTV, BET, etc). 


ROLE DETAILS:
We are looking for a VP Engineering, Core Services to lead our platform teams for Paramount+. We’re a team that values software exemplifying simplicity of design, maintainability, extensibility, and foundational robustness. The right candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and has a strong grasp of groundbreaking languages and technologies.


YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: 
-  Lead all aspects of global backend services, video engineering teams and their initiatives

-  Empower, cultivate, grow our dynamic engineering leaders

-  Partner with cross organizational (Product/Customer Service/Other eng) leaders to develop a strategic technical roadmap

-  Provide organizational leadership (including resource management, hiring, mentorship, and performance management) across technical areas

-  Lead and deliver executive reporting across systems and initiatives

-  Drive operational rigor, apply and reward standard methodologies and processes.

-  Partner with the Product organization to ensure the timely and reliable delivery of our roadmap.

-  Partner with our talent teams to build a healthy diverse pipeline of candidates, rigorous interview loops, and ultimately own hiring goals

-  Build and drive the outstanding, diverse product and engineering culture so every team member deeply cares about innovation and solving problems for our customers

-  Translate business objectives into software requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:
What you bring to the team:

You have -

-  14+ years product software development

-  Hands-on technical leadership experience with a track record of scaling organizations

-  Proven technical expertise in building cloud agnostic solutions at scale.

-  Passion for zero downtime.

-  Previous experience in software development, leading organizations toward cloud native architectures

-  Ability to dive deep into details and have a data centric approach to problem solving

-  Must have a track record of encouraging an innovative and hard-working team.

-  BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.

-  Experience with SOA and microservice architectures

-  Experience successfully operating in the SAFe Framework

-  Experience with RDBMS, NoSQL, and Distributed Systems (both in system design and data storage)

-  Effective communication skills

-  Demonstrated track record of developing positive relationships, collaborating across teams, developing staff, coordinating multiple timelines, and handling complex, cross-discipline projects.

-  Demonstrated data-driven approach to leading teams by determining key engineering metrics, and monitoring and improving those metrics.

-  Demonstrated the implementation of innovative processes, strategies and methodologies to improve team morale and productivity; boosting engagement.

-  Experience developing globally distributed teams of software engineers and managers.

-  Proven ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative, and distributed team environment, while building and maintaining an inclusive culture.

You might also have -

-  Experience with Video products

-  Working knowledge of CICD, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud environments (GCP, AWS, etc.) a plus

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $250,000.00 - 280,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
