Web Producer

KPIX 5 is looking for a digital journalist who wants to drive our digital, social, and streaming platforms to new heights! We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment and possess a vision to elevate our online presence in new ways for the Bay Area.

As a Web Producer, you'll help drive content creation by collaborating with an expert team of journalists. Your reach will span an array of platforms, including our website, app, social media channels and OTT platforms. The position requires storytelling skills, research abilities, SEO knowledge and efficient copyediting standards. We value candidates who will turn stories, tips and local issues into articles and interactive content! The Web Producer will have a news background with storytelling skills that hook a reader and leave them no choice but to scroll down. Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

• Creatively brainstorm and produce articles & interactive content under tight deadlines
• Schedule and write social media posts
• Increase digital traffic through outreach to other content aggregators
• Engage with users to answer comments and addressing inquiries
• Work with Digital Content Manager to maintain the integrity of websites

Skills and experience:

• 2+ years experience in an online, newspaper, television or radio newsroom
• Excellent writing and copy-editing skills using AP Style
• Basic knowledge of HTML
• Strong editorial judgment, communication and critical thinking skills
• Experience with WordPress & Adobe Photoshop preferred
• Basic video and audio editing skills
• B.S. or B.A. in Journalism or similar field required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $72,000.00 - 85,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
