We now have an opportunity for a senior News Producer/Reporter in our Melbourne newsroom. We are looking for a highly experienced person with at least 6+ years of experience in broadcast news.
Enough about us! What you’ll do as a Producer/Reporter at 10 News:
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of news coverage—investigating, producing, and delivering high-quality stories that matter. Reporting to the Executive Editor, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively to create impactful television news content.
Functions will also include:
• Pitch, research, and produce original, high-quality news stories for broadcast.
• Work under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.
• Report live with confidence on breaking news events.
• Take the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast with minimal supervision.
• Proactively source and line up stories, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage.
• Cover other newsroom roles as required.
• Actively contribute to editorial decisions, finding stories that are relevant to our viewers
• Manage time pressures and be able to meet multiple daily deadlines
What are we looking for in this role? What’s important?
• Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape.
• Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions.
• Proven track record in television news reporting.
• In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs.
• Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands.
• Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
