CBS 62 (WWJ-TV) and CW50 (WKBD-TV), the CBS News and Stations owned & operated in the #14 television market Detroit, is seeking College Students who are looking for Summer Internships in a Television Station Newsroom.  Our internship will provide student interns the opportunity to gain valuable and unique experience in live News studio environment. Internship activities include the following:
•    Work with News Management and Assignment Desk Editors on developing news stories 
•    Production Assistant for News, Community Affairs, and Web 
•    Write social media for News, Community Affairs, and Web
•    Research News stories for CBS News Detroit and CW50 News shows, and web
•    Will have the potential to work with our Multi-Skilled Journalists in the field covering news stories 
•    Write & research scripts/questions for “Community Connect” and “Michigan Matters” as needed
•    Research and write community events for websites
•    Write website community content and/or blogs
•    Video Editing: B-roll for community shows, News, Web Exclusives
•    Research potential topics for future programs or PSAs
•    Run Studio Camera or Prompter for Production (as needed)
•    Assist during station-sponsored Community Events (as needed)
•    Occasional clerical responsibilities may be required
•    Learn basic SEO techniques and best practices
Skills and Ability Requirements:
•    Must have excellent writing skills (and copy-editing skills) along with good verbal communication skills
•    Knowledge of Avid and/or Adobe Premiere is a plus 
•    MS Office proficiency is required
•    Eye for good local and viral content
•    Experience with WordPress and Adobe Photoshop preferred
•    Experience shooting and editing photos/videos a plus
•    Must be able to meet the minimum time commitment for the internship program (20 hours/wk for a minimum of 10 – 13 weeks)
