Adams Media is seeking a high-energy Publicity Manager with a specific interest in lifestyle nonfiction titles to help maximize publicity coverage. Specific areas of focus include self-help, cooking and franchise pop culture tie-ins.
This position will report to the Director of Marketing & Publicity and will lead media campaigns for the imprint’s most high-profile titles. Additionally, the Publicity Manager will partner across the imprint on overall discoverability strategy and revenue goals.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record executing nonfiction publicity campaigns and will come to the table with an established network of high-level media connections. Additionally, the selected candidate will have significant author relations experience and confidence to coach authors throughout the publication cycle. Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills will be key to success.
Responsibilities:
• Planning and executing of publicity campaigns for assigned Adams Media titles
• Demonstrated media connections across all outlets (national broadcast, online, print, podcast, local)
• Commitment to building and maintaining positive author relationships
• Polished presenter at regular sales meetings
• Craft messaging and prepare authors for high-level interviews; arrange select in-store events
• Develop engaging media pitches and attention-getting press materials
• Working industry knowledge of new media outlets and evolving publicity opportunities
Qualifications:
• Five years book publicity experience, with proven media track-record (including national broadcast)
• A strategic thinker able to capitalize on the imprint’s unique market strengths
• A relaxed and confident presenter with great pitch skills
• Independent self-starter with a commitment to delivering results
• Adept multitasker able to meet deadlines and manage various requests simultaneously, applying urgency when required
• Collaborative team player eager to share best practices and media wins
• Unflappable in follow-up
• Proficient in Microsoft Office / MuckRack

The annual salary for this position is $70,000.00 - $70,000.00
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
