-
3+ years of engineering support and troubleshooting experience in broadcast environments, including one or more of the following:
-
On-air playout in broadcast and/or streaming environments
-
Live broadcast control room operations, preferably in sports or live entertainment
-
Transmission operations supporting real-time monitoring and distribution across multiple delivery paths
-
Expert-level knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110 IP video infrastructure, including uncompressed video (ST 2110-20), audio (ST 2110-30), and ancillary data (ST 2110-40) flows, with solid comprehension of PTP-based timing and synchronization
-
Proficiency with broadcast test and measurement equipment (waveform monitors, vectorscopes, rasterizers, signal analyzers) for validating video/audio integrity across SDI and IP signal paths
-
You need to know about broadcast network design principles for high-bandwidth, uncompressed video. This includes redundancy models such as dual fabric and hitless switching. It is also important to understand multicast design and how to manage essence flow bandwidth.
-
End-to-end signal chain troubleshooting across IP, SDI, LTC, L-Band, and ASI signals, with a structured methodology for isolating issues across network, device, and workflow layers
-
Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Evertz IP-based systems, including ST 2110 routing, signal processing, control infrastructure, NMOS integration (e.g., Evertz Magnum), SDP generation/exchange, and control plane vs. data plane separation
-
Knowledge of broadcast engineering best practices related to signal redundancy, failover, and resiliency design
-
Experience supporting channel origination workflows with Grass Valley AMPP. This work involves playout service orchestration. It also includes graphics insertion, SCTE triggers, and content scheduling.
-
Experience supporting Imagine Communications SNP or equivalent IP gateway systems in live production or playout environments
-
Familiarity with TAG Video Systems multiviewers, including monitoring layout configuration, signal health validation, and alarm interpretation in IP video environments
-
Working knowledge of Telestream PRISM waveform monitors for real-time SDI and ST 2110 signal analysis, including video quality, color space accuracy, and HDR/SDR compliance
-
Knowledge of color space conversion and HDR/SDR compatibility is important. This involves working with LUTs and tone mapping. You should also be able to fix EOTF/gamma errors, address color space metadata mismatches, and ensure consistent HDR/SDR output across devices.
-
Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting IRDs, L-Band routers, and associated RF equipment; solid knowledge of end-to-end satellite downlink signal chains including RF, L-Band, ASI, and IP outputs
-
Knowledge of cloud-based or hybrid broadcast workflows, including remote production or IP extension of linear streams into AWS or Oracle Cloud environments
-
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues across routing control systems, multicast networking, and downstream playout or monitoring devices
-
Proficient written documentation skills. This includes operational procedures. It also includes troubleshooting guides and engineering run books.
-
You should communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should also be self-directed and able to work in environments where priorities change.
