Los Angeles CBS Standards & Practices, BS&P, is a division of the legal department who works closely with all day parts of the entertainment division - current programming and development, legal, ad sales, promos, marketing, and outside production and studios. BS&P is responsible for reviewing content produced for broadcast in light of CBS wide policies, practices, and standards relevant to television content.

 

We review primetime programming, game shows, reality programming, talk shows, children's programing, soaps, late nigh programming, and movies to ensure they are acceptable for network broadcast and streaming. The Los Angeles CBS Program Practices/Standards and Practices department works closely with all areas of the entertainment division and various production companies to ensure that FCC regulations, Network policy, and compliance are met. CBS Program Practices team identifies indecency and obscenity concerns, ad sales concerns, and legal concerns related to scripted and un-scripted content. We review and approve all content that has the potential to air on CBS Television Network airwaves."           

 

Key Internship responsibilities:

  • Approximately 50% of the intern's work involves the review of our Saturday morning children's programming block consisting of 6 shows for review each week.
  • Approximately 30% of the intern's work involves review of our game shows and other programming related to our primetime schedule.
  • Approximately 20% of the intern's work involves exposure to the live delay booth and its daily function with various day-to-day office responsibilities.
  • You will be responsible for viewing, responding, and logging information into the competitive database.
  • You will be exposed to live programming and the live broadcast delay.
  • You will be permitted to review scripts and carry a dialogue with your supervisor about acceptable content.
  • You will review network rough cuts and respond to the material.
  • You will cover desks and answer phones.
  • You will be exposed to game show and reality programming.

 

Qualifications:

  • Film and Television or Communications major
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of CBS television programming
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills, ability to see things from a different perspective
  • Microsoft office application knowledge, word, adobe, power point, outlook mail etc.

 

Eligibility:

  • Internships are available to students who will be Seniors or Master’s students in the fall of 2026. If you are a graduating Senior, please check our website for full-time job opportunities.
  • You must be available to intern full-time (5 days a week/36-40 hours a week) for 10 weeks total starting in June.
  • Interns will be required to work fully on-site for the duration of the program. Note: Paramount does not provide financial relocation support or housing stipends.
  • Internships are paid at a competitive standard hourly rate (school credit is optional).
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
  • Employment eligibility to work with Paramount in the United States is required as the company does not engage in sponsorship for internships.

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
