Director, Community and Strategic Partnerships

The Director of Community & Strategic Partnerships will develop and manage pivotal initiatives to strengthen and expand relationships with community organizations, non-profits, local government agencies, and other key partners in the regions served by CBS Los Angeles. This role is passionate about encouraging community engagement, elevating brand awareness, and aligning CBS Los Angeles’ mission with the needs of the communities it serves. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including news, sales and marketing, and creative services to ensure consistent community outreach and impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a community partnership strategy that aligns with the station’s goals and improves CBS’s presence and influence in the community.
- Relationship Building: Establish and cultivate relationships with community leaders, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and local governments to identify partnership opportunities.
- Social Impact: Build and lead all aspects of community-focused initiatives, campaigns, and events that drive local engagement, address community needs, and improve the station’s social impact.
- Business Development: Identify and develop revenue generating opportunities through sponsorships, event partnerships, and community-driven programming.
- Volunteer Management: Create and lead employee volunteer programs.
- Event Management: Conceptualize, plan, manage, and implement engaging community events that are in line with CBS Los Angeles’ strategic goals.
- News Integration: Partner with news teams to identify community-related stories and coverage that reflects the diversity and needs of the viewing audience. Serve as a trusted advisor to the News Department for community contacts and story content.
- Brand Representation: Represent CBS Los Angeles at key community events, forums, and public engagements, positioning the station as a trusted and active community partner
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track and evaluate the impact of community partnerships and initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership on outcomes, goals achieved, and areas for improvement.
- Internal Employee Culture: Support Regional President and GM in building a strong internal culture. Find opportunities for employees to participate in partnership events and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus !
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in community relations, public relations, corporate partnerships, or a similar role, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. Strong understanding of the television/media landscape and its role in local communities.
- Proven track record of building successful community partnerships and implementing large-scale events or campaigns.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to cooperate with cross functional teams.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the local CBS Los Angeles market is a plus!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $170,000.00 - 200,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
