This isn’t just another reporting role. It’s a chance to be at the forefront of a news brand, across a powerful multi-platform network. As part of a dynamic, fast-moving team, you’ll chase leads, uncover facts, and produce compelling, high-impact television news stories that shape the national conversation. 

Reporting to the Executive Editor, you’ll be responsible for working independently with the support of a collaborative newsroom culture that values bold ideas, journalistic integrity, and creativity.  If you’re looking for a fresh challenge, meaningful stories, and a newsroom that’s backing growth this is your moment. 

 

Functions will include:     

  • Pitch, research, and produce original, high-quality news stories for broadcast. 
  • Work under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content. 
  • Report live with confidence on breaking news events. 
  • Take the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast, with minimal supervision. 
  • Proactively source and line up stories, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage. 
  • Cover other newsroom roles as required. 

 

What are we looking for in our Newsroom? What’s important?      

  • Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape. 
  • Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes. 
  • Highly motivated to cultivate contacts, you're not afraid to pick up the phone. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions. 
  • Proven track record in television news reporting. 
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs. 
  • Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production. 
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands. 
  • Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
