Currently, we are seeking a hard-working and experienced Staff Data Engineer to join our team.

 

As the Staff Data Engineer, SMB Advertising, you will play a key role in Paramount’s self-serve advertising platform’s measurement, attribution, and delivery optimization. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data architecture, cleaning and preprocessing data, and building robust data pipelines to support advertising analytics, operations, and optimizations. You will directly drive the impact of the scalability, reliability, and performance of our advertising platform.

Key responsibilities for this role will be:

 

  • Design and implement scalable data architecture for the TV/CTV self-serve advertising platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. 
  • Develop data cleaning and preprocessing routines to ensure the integrity and quality of incoming data from multiple sources, including the self-serve ads platform, ad servers, streaming platforms, and third-party providers. 
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of streaming and batch data for use in advertising operations and analytics. 
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions to support data modeling, advertising optimization, attribution, and reporting. 
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address data quality issues, pipeline failures, and performance bottlenecks. 
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms to support efficient querying and analysis of advertising data by internal stakeholders and external partners. 
  • Stay ahead of industry standard processes and emerging technologies in data engineering and advertising technology, applying new methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

And on the technical side we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Data Engineer, preferably in the media or video advertising industry. 
  • Strong expertise in data architecture design, including relational and non-relational database systems, data warehousing, and distributed computing platforms. 
  • Proficiency in data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation techniques, with experience using tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, or similar frameworks. 
  • Experience building and maintaining robust data pipelines using technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, or similar workflow orchestration tools. 
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, including experience with services like S3, Redshift, BigQuery, and Dataflow. 
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles, with experience implementing data governance and compliance measures. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex data engineering issues. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing techniques, particularly with large-scale datasets.
  • Experience with big data technologies and platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, or Hive
  • Experience with cloud provider(s): AWS, GCP, and/or OCI,
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical partners.
  • Proven track record of leading data-driven projects from conception to execution, delivering measurable business impact.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
