CBS News has an immediate opening for a News Photographer/Editor for the Newspath Washington, DC Bureau. The News Photographer/Editor is responsible for gathering news content, editing video, and operating ENG equipment for the Newspath DC news operation.


A successful candidate must have the ability to capture compelling visuals and audio at the speed of news with a “can-do” approach to problem solving. This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment requiring a highly skilled and creative individual with the technical expertise to light and shoot network-worthy standups, teases, and live shots. You must be a team player who contributes to the editorial with story ideas and during the newsgathering process. You must be able to pass Secret Service and other mandated clearances to enter sensitive federal government office buildings in and around the nation’s capital including the White House, Capitol Hill locations, the Pentagon, etc.

  • Safely operate newsgathering equipment
  • Edit stories quickly and accurately in the field
  • Comply with CBS & OSHA safety standards
  • Proficient with non-linear editing



  • Excellent technical and ENG lighting skills required
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, high pressure, tight deadline environment
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational & people skills
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude & leadership qualities with the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities
  • Must be able to life and carry equipment on the go
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • Must be a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW) or join upon hiring.
  • Must have and maintain a valid District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia Driver’s License
