Associate Producer, Face the Nation

Overview:
Face the Nation is looking for an Associate Producer. The ideal candidate is a team player with exceptional research skills, is detail-oriented, and has the ability to both multi-task and keep a calm head under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. Must be flexible and able to roll with the punches. Works a Wednesday-Sunday schedule.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Work with producers to help the broadcast with research and packages and with writing/fact checking copy and questions for FTN
• Research segments for Face the Nation on newsmakers, politics, policies and Washington and national guests
• Research and develop guest pitches for Face the Nation
• Be able to serve as “editorial point person” for a segment guest; gathering and curating research, scripting potential questions and lines of questioning for FTN Moderator
• Work collaboratively to establish and hone administrative systems for tracking developing stories, video, stills, oversee rights and clearances information for broadcast.
• Help oversee FTN contacts and administrative database.
• Work to gather video and social media elements for broadcast and social media posts, work in edit booth on video for broadcast as needed
• Be able to coordinate and work with other producers under intense time pressure
Basic Qualifications:
• Internship or comparable production experience working on a news broadcast or a broadcast news organization. Broadcast or Production Assistant experience a strong asset.
• Ability to recognize news and potential “nuggets of information” for use to create questions.
• College degree
• Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines.
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
• Strong editorial skills in the areas of politics and foreign policy
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, holidays, and/or weekends
